Why It’s Happening

Cleaner air, stricter limits

Beginning in 2027, the EPA requires a major reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines among the most stringent standards ever set. Meeting them takes more than a tune‑up: engines and their aftertreatment systems have been redesigned from the ground up. The result is a cleaner truck.

There’s nothing to beat. Going forward, new apparatus are built on the 2027 platforms, and they’re engineered to deliver the power and reliability you count on.
Will the new engines be reliable?
These platforms are the result of extensive engineering, testing, and validation. As with past emissions transitions there will be a learning curve, but the manufacturers have invested heavily to protect reliability and performance.
Will the truck look or operate differently?
