As our service department continues to grow, we are actively seeking a Warehouse & General Maintenance Associate for our Abbotsford Service location. This position will report directly to the Service Manager.
As the Warehouse & General Maintenance Associate, you will be engaged in a variety of tasks ranging from Shop and Warehouse duties to maintaining the building and yard. You will support service technicians by keeping the work area, tools, equipment, trucks and facility yard clean and organized, and assist in building maintenance to ensure our facilities remain safe and operational. Additionally, you will support shipping by picking up and delivering parts as needed. This role requires hands-on engagement and a willingness to tackle tasks that may be physically demanding at times.
The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude, strong communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Shop Duties
• Empty Shop Trash Bins: Regularly empty trash bins in the shop area to maintain cleanliness.
• Clean Bays: Sweep and generally clean the vehicle bays to ensure a safe and tidy workspace.
• Wash Vehicles & Apparatus: Thoroughly wash company vehicles and Fire Apparatus to keep them in good condition and presentable.
• Transport Vehicles with Technicians: Assist technicians by helping to transport vehicles to and from service locations.
• Wiring and Metal Disposals: Properly dispose of wiring and metal scrap according to safety and environmental regulations.
• Dispose of Hazardous Materials: Safely dispose of oils and foams, in compliance with environmental guidelines.
Warehouse Duties
• Parts Delivery: Deliver parts to various locations as needed, ensuring timely arrival.
• Parts Pickup: Collect parts from suppliers or other locations as required.
• Parts Stocking and Organization: Stock incoming parts in their designated areas and maintain a clean and organized area.
• Count Inventory: Perform regular inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
• Breakdown Boxes and Recycle: Flatten and recycle boxes after parts are unpacked.
• Tidy Area: Keep the warehouse area clean and organized.
• Operate Lifts and Pallet Jacks: Safely operate lifts and pallet jacks to move heavy items or pallets.
• Repairs/Maintains Equipment: Perform minor repairs or arrange for maintenance of warehouse equipment.
• Filling Parts Orders: Accurately fulfill parts orders from the inventory for internal or external customers.
• Assist with Receiving and Shipping Duties: Help with the receiving of incoming shipments and preparing outgoing shipments.
• Assist with Freight Quotes: Provide support in obtaining and comparing freight quotes for shipping.
Building and Yard Maintenance
• Arrange Garbage Bin Pickups: Schedule regular pickups for garbage bins to maintain a clean yard.
• Ensure Yard is Swept of Debris: Regularly sweep the yard to keep it free of debris and ensure safety.
• Water Landscaping as Required: Water plants and landscaping areas as needed to maintain a neat appearance.
• Assist with Trade Show Material Storage: Help with the organization and storage of trade show materials.
• Assist with Company Events Setup and Tear Down: Support the setup and takedown of company events.
• Minor Interior Repairs: Perform small interior repairs, such as fixing doors, touching up paint, and mounting pictures.
• Container & Storage Organization/Maintenance: Organize and maintain storage containers, including managing year-end file storage.
• Purge and Recycle Electronics and Stock: Regularly dispose of outdated electronics and excess stock through proper recycling methods.
• Valid BC Driver’s license with clean abstract (air brake endorsement an asset)
• Forklift operator certification is required
• Organizational Skills: Ability to keep tasks, tools, and workspace well-organized.
• Forward Thinker: Ability to anticipate needs and plan ahead.
• Takes Initiative: Proactive in identifying and addressing tasks without needing direction.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency with email, MS Office, basic accounting programs, and web-based tools.
• Handy with Tools: Comfortable and skilled in using various tools for repairs and maintenance.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to be on your feet all day, including bending, reaching, and performing physically demanding tasks.
• Mechanically Inclined: Basic understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to learn more as needed.
• Willingness to Learn: Openness to acquiring new skills and knowledge on the job.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to lift heavy objects unassisted, up to 50 lbs.
• Safety Steel Toe Boots are required
• Previous Shipping experience an asset.
